ARE YOU RESPECTABLE??

Being respected and  or respectable are values we often demand. It usually comes from a place of power. 

That power is not always associated with money, but often from privilege. 

I get worried when we demand respect, based on our privileged position as followers of Jesus, because I don't see it being demanded by Jesus, in fact Jesus humbled himself to the place of a slave.

As followers of Jesus we need to humble ourselves, not seek or demand respecting much the same way we ought not seek happiness, or fame too readily.

I'm OK with being considered unrespectable if it means identifying with those who Jesus hung-out with.

I wonder if like pride, respect comes before a fall?????
