I got here - after three weeks on a plane and about a month sitting at airports I landed. Dirty, dishevelled with a long beard and hunger pangs I finally got off the huge metal cigar that had transported me back in time. (I left 9:10 Tuesday morning and arrived in L.A. at 6:30 Tuesday morning.)

From first impressions America is very like Australia expect teeth are whiter here.

I have brought Washtub with me. Washtub (variously known as Washy, Tubster, Mr. Tub) is a 42 year old Bear who I found on the street in Llandudno when I was small. He was put in the washing machine (hence the name) and he has followed me around the world. He's been to college (and got better grades than me), he's jumped out of more than one plane, he's even been church more than once. He's great company, gives wise counsel and he doesn't snore!
I must admit that I didn't expect to have a conversation about eschatology on the trip from the airport to the hotel, but Stuart (my new friend) started the trip with - "Are we living in the end times??" I'd been in a plane for weeks and at the best of times I'm confused by the whole book of Revelation so I mumbled something about not knowing the time and place and that not even Jesus knows and he seemed satisfied. He did comment that we must be nearing the end of the world as it never rains in Denver two days in a row.
